“Mera Jaunti”, inspires the sense of belonging and responsibility, of owning something and nurturing with pride. With these emotions we set out to conduct Health Mapping of Jaunti village, a noble endeavour under the Saansad Aadarsh Gram Yojna, to adopt and bring to standard, a chosen village, so that India develops not only in the urban areas but also prospers in the rural belt.
Our NGO Anahita, together with Channel Partners, believes in an inclusive project where the involvement of the local population is quintessential. Our first endeavour is to identify local men and women, boys and girls who can lead our inclusive model. Our first target audience being women and children, we identified Meenu Kumari, and Sumitra Chhikara to assist us with the Health Mapping. We trained them to do data collection and check the following:
»Blood Pressure
»Blood Sugar
»Blood Group
»Blood Oxygen levels
»Height
»Weight
In about 2 month’s time, we are proud to say that all the women of Jaunti will be checked and mapped for healthcare and wellbeing data. Alongside, we have identified 2 young men who will assist with data entry and conversion to electronic format. Sumit Chhikara is a B.Com graduate now planning to look ahead for career opportunities and step into the world.
Rahul has applied for LDC post in the Government of India, and his understanding of computer applications and data management is admirable. Their training to do data entry with minimal error is ongoing, while data collection is being completed on one hand.
We plan to achieve a huge number of benefits for Village Jaunti through this health mapping:
1) Accurate demographics of the Village
2) Identification of diseases that have so far gone unchecked
3) Understanding the health trends of the village for men, women and children
4) Bringing to the people focussed healthcare programs and medical assistance
5) Conversion of data to Electronic Health Records which will be uploaded onto the Hospital Information System in the upcoming Hospital.
6) Health card issued will greatly help in times of Emergencies and Accidents.
7) Training in checking parameters and data entry will generate sources of employment and income.
Our efforts should make Jaunti the first village to be completely health mapped on Electronic Health Records for easy search and retrieval, healthcare analysis and better focussed programs. We are in this village to make sure all the residents of Jaunti experience easy access to quality healthcare and no one goes untreated.
